My guests this week are Jason and Peter from Make ‘Em Laugh Films and Viera Comics. I first met Jason and Peter at Boston Comic Con last month where they interviewed me for their cosplay interview video and Peter agreed to be interviewed by me for my Boston Comic Con Recap Episode.

Make ‘Em Laugh Films is a group of YouTube stars/popular cosplayers with a simple mission…to bring you endless laughter! Their videos have been featured on IMDb, Cinema Blend, Comicbook.com, Comic Book Resources, the Richest and more! As cosplayers, they regularly attend conventions across the nation to network with likeminded people, film new videos and host panels.

Their base of operations is Viera Comics, owned by Peter. The comic book shop in Melbourne, FL hosts regular events and has gained national recognition thanks to the great work of Peter and Jason.

We talk about a lot of great topics including:

  • How they come up with ideas and film their YouTube videos
  • How to build a cosplay community
  • Attending comic conventions
  • The importance of consistency in creating YouTube content

This week I talk to the author of The Indestructibles series, Matthew Phillion.

The series has been described as the “Breakfast Club meets the JLA” and was listed as the best of 2014 and 2015 by SuperheroNovels.com.

A solar powered girl. A ballerina vigilante. A boy with an alien living inside his brain. A werewolf with confidence issues.  A girl with a black hole for a heart. Five teenagers, each with their own unique abilities, are gathered by veteran hero Doc Silence to become their generation’s super-team.

But when they find out someone else is building their own monsters to change the world, will the Indestructibles be ready in time? Or will their inexperience be their downfall?

This weekend is Boston Comic Con! My guest this week will be attending the convention (as will I). It’s Alyssa Franks from Friends of Comic Con.

Friends of Comic Con started as an online forum and message board for attendees of San Diego Comic Con to share wisdom with newcomers and make friends with people attending the con. The forum has grown to include New York Comic Con, C2E2 and nearly every other convention. The blog also covers con culture, pop culture, entertainment news, cosplay and much more. Alyssa hosts A Cup of Tea with An Englishman every Sunday where her and Leonard, An Englishman in San Diego, talk upcoming conventions and entertainment news with convention organizers and other industry professionals.

Now, Friends of Comic Con is multi-platform organization dedicated to creating a friendly, innovative community where people can collaborate, learn, create, and expand in an effort to promote individual expression and enjoyment of comics, fandoms and pop culture.
